The easiest way to get to the next level down in wheel weight from the 1,275 plateau that BoSoxYacht and I inhabit is to use a 270 g low profile TUBULAR carbon rim. That would save about 100 g per rim and put the wheel at just around 1075 g. Cost wouldn't be too bad for Chinese rims of that type. If you can't trust those, then you would be out some serious bread for ENVEs or some such.
