Try this: Go to the curb and place both wheels against it, in the direction of traffic (drive side out). Turn the crank arms so that the one against the curb is just slightly behind the 6:00 position, so that when you set it down with the wheels tight against the curb, the pedal will set firmly on top of it without spinning. Making the bike as vertical as possible and snug against the curb like that, it should stay up just fine.
You might also just try propping it up against the other side of the mailbox, and taking the picture from a kneeling or squatting position, so that you're looking at it straight instead of down on it. Also, either crop the picture or get closer so it fills the frame.
