For anyone counting, that's a lot

of posts. I haven't yet determined how many of those contain insults. The most basic insult you can make is about someone's intelligence. It only took one post, in the very first thread, to get there:
It was nice to see so many riders today though. ....even the dumb ones.
The OP to part 3 addressed the issue:
This long thread started years ago, when jeff williams posted
this little ditty. actually, this is not the exact, original post because jeff went back after a couple of days and edited out of it some bits that were a bit more offensive than what he left (including the point that said these people who went without helmets were airheads). The idea stuck; people who went without helmets were morons, idiots and organ donors.
and the poster who started that thread made a good point followed by the understatement of the year early in the next one:
There's a difference between calling an argument idiotic and an individual idiotic and they are often so tightly wrapped up together, that there can be problems. I think this characteristic is overly represented in this debate.
n+1 tried this suggestion:
If you find yourself typing one of the the words "idiot" or "stupid," you might want to reconsider hitting the submit button.
That was repeated in the OP to The helmet thread [#5], though dropped in the current incarnation, possibly in a tacit acknowledgement that
Hoemo sapiens (Latin: "wise man", misspelled to smuggle it through censoring) can't resist this particular
ad hominem. In a few thousand generations this instinct may have been Darwined out of the gene pool, but best not to hold one's breath.
