I added this questionable looking rig to my stable this summer for $40. I had been looking for an Italian bike on a budget which seems to be an oxymoron. I was intrigued by the chrome socks and lugs in the craigslist ad, and somewhat disappointed to find out how lowly the frame actually was. It has a faded De Luxe decal on the top bar, steel rims and stamped dropouts so my delusions of grandeur were quickly dashed. The Middlemore saddle is a hopeless wreck, garage art at best. Still, it has Universal center pull brakes and the chrome is pretty cool. The generator and lights are Schwinn spec stuff and may find their way to my Sport Tourer. It's also the first one of these I've seen with blue checker board decals instead of black. The Bot is patiently waiting a rebuild but I haven't decided which direction to go with it yet. The paint work is rough enough to merit a repaint in my opinion. I don't want to get carried away but I think I have a nice donor bike that can provide most major components to keep this in budget. I'm not sure of the year of manufacture but the latest decal I found says 1967 so it's at least a '68. I'd bet mid '70s realistically though.
