I just picked up the above bike and would like to ask about the brakes. I am "considering" the 27" to 700c conversion. I have done a search and I think I have read all the old posts related to this topic but wonder if there is any "new" info out there!
Some say the old brakes,Dia Compe 981 cantilevers, will work fine other well not so. So I was wondering a couple of things. The springs look like they could use replacing but there seem like hen's teeth!
Also are there any modern cantis that will work? Other than trial and error is there a way to use measurements to determine a suitable replacement?
