Asside from a few a$$hachets, my posterior accepts a variety of saddles that aren't too wide.
I move around a lot on my saddle so the longer ones are preferred. I also get out of the saddle regularly on most rides.
My rides are typically 30 miles (2 hrs) or less, so saddles have become less of a concern for me as I age.
The trouble I find with leather is that it gives only 1 comfortable position.
