I took a nice little fall last night. Completely my own fault. I don't know where I was looking or what I was thinking about, but I got my front wheel off the road at a spot where there was about an inch or so lip of asphalt. When I tried to correct it, the tire was not coming back up and I went down on my left side into the road. Luckily a car behind me was not following too closely and was able to stop.
I got back up and off the road pretty quickly to assess myself and my bike. I have a skinned knee and elbow, bruised hip and skinned right thumb (don't know how I got my right hand over there). My new jacket got a minor tear which I hope my wife can put a patch on. My wind-stopper mittens got a couple of tears too. They are pretty old and probably need to be replaced anyway though.
The bike seemed okay. Both wheels spun freely. The left shifter/brake hood was a bit out of whack, but I was able to pull it back to straight. My handle bar tape on the left drop bar has a chunk out of it too, but still holding together. This morning I noticed my front wheel is not quite true anymore.
Anyway, it all happened so fast I don't really know what happened other that I went a little too far right. I rode the rest of the way home and rode in this morning too.
I saw a beautiful sunrise this morning. Bright orange and slowly chaning to yellow before fading out. Not terribly cold this morning, but the arctic blast is hitting here tonight.
