Bikes: Are several.

Fifteen years ago, in May of 2000, my grandfather, a Korea veteran serving as a witness in company of WW1 and 2 vets, and a representative of Canadian peacekeepers, was present at the Handover Ceremony at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial on Vimy Ridge. A great uncle died in that battle, as did 3500 other Canadians and thousands of Germans soldiers. I'm sure many on the Forum have some connection to one or another of these sites in France or elsewhere on the Continent.

I would love to have the opportunity to take in the history and see some of the many battle sites. I hope to have the chance to tour in France and Germany in the next year or two...

Vimy est enroute de Paris vers Roubaix - peut-être un jour; peut-être une jour pas trop loin. Un peu d'histoire, de connection familial, de réflexion, expérience des paysages à vélo...and a chance to practice my crumbling French.

I appreciate your photographs. The fine stone work on the columns at the memorial tower on the first page of the album are very striking to me, as is the bronze statue on the second page of the album. And much else there that bolsters my desire to make a trip happen...
