returning to biking
As kids, we rode bikes everywhere.
I haven't used or owned a bike until recently, but I find it a welcome addition to my exercise routine. Decades of running as well as the need to build strength in other muscles also
drive my return to biking.
First, my wife bought a mountain type of a bike(Schwinn S-25) at a garage sale, then we picked up a Trek Verve 1 at a good price via Craigslist.org.
I've enjoyed the Trek, but when the wife and I traded bikes we realized how good (and how bad)
having the right(wrong) bike can be.
As luck would have it, I an a bit too tall for the Trek (went to a bike shop and found that I need
a 56 or 58 cm sized bike), and she really liked how much easier a ride it was.
So now I'm looking for a new/used bike for myself.
So far I've seen a used Cannonade R 7000 for about $800 or a Trek Madone 2.1 for $880 .
I imagine getting a used bike is like getting a used car in that one would be well advised to
have a mechanic go over it first.
