A P-38 opener should be mandatory equipment for most everything, even if they phased out the metal cans they so well opened. Fantastic, simple, elegant engineering in its purest form. C-rats, ugggh, those things were meant to be food for the roaches to eat after the apocalypse, and would probably not be spoiled either.

Thanks for this thread, those American Military Cemeteries in France are one place I'd love to visit, and pay respects to the fallen interred there. It would be the great basis for a bicycle tour through France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

I saw a special on the old Military Channel, before it became the AHC, about the various official cemeteries in Europe and the Pacific a few years back, it was very well produced, and totally respectful. My paternal grandfather is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, I have a picture and a rubbing of his head stone, they are treasures for me, as I never got to meet him, a WW I, US Army veteran.
