Right! 34 x 48 is the same low gear in back as 24 (front) x 34. You can also combine wide-rang with tight spacing just like a triple - 50 - 34 x 12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-24-27-30-34 13 cogs has the same spacing and range as 53-39-26 x 13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-26.

What? They don't make cogs bigger than 42T? There isn't a single one-tooth jump on a
10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-36-42 SRAM cassette? We won't get to 13 cogs until 2027 (Campagnolo went 10 cogs in 2000, 11 2009)? Maybe not.

Compact gearing is only a win for the bike industry which profits more from fewer SKUs.
