Thanks for the picture. That is what I was describing. I find it works very well. I have hung a small camera bag on top of it sometimes and that worked well too.

BTW, on the comment about not wanting end loading... Barrel shaped bags are most suited to stuffing and end loading is the way to go with that IMO. I once had a barrel shaped handlebar bag somewhat like you describe. It has a zipper lengthwise, and it was pretty awkward in use other than very loosely and lightly loaded. It was a 1970 something vintage Cannondale bag. I might actually still have it around if you are interested, but I don't really recommend it.
