I run the TRP HY/Rd calipers and originally had 180 MM rotor on front. Way too much stopping power that made it difficult to properly modulate force. I now have 160s front and rear and am very happy with that set up. I weigh 205 pounds. Running Avid HSX rotors and am also very pleased. I ride steep windy long hills all day here in Pittsburgh and despite trying I have not been able to heat rotors enough to generate noticeable fade. The Hy/Rds ROCK! You will love them. The HSX rotors are also very quiet!
There are several posts in BF of people melting the aluminum core of the Shimano Ice Tech rotors on heavy decent braking so I'd stick with solid steel of you have concerns.
With the Hy/Rd calipers if you go with a too-large rotor you lose a lot of the beautiful feel/modulation this caliper is capable of delivering. If you do that go to a lower-powered Avid BB-7/ 203 combination.
The Hy/Rd will give you an outstanding performance level as long as you have it paired with the right rotor!
