It depends. If the goal is to gain weight, then all macros need to go up. That's what I did.
I was merely advocating that I saw pretty large gains in recovery/performance. While the performance gains probably don't transfer over the same at all. I think nutrient timing is important and post ride shakes with protein and carbs is beneficial.
Things like creatine on the other hand are probably much more beneficial for track sprinters than for crit racers.
