Hey everyone, thanks for your concern/suggestions, nothing went 'wrong' with me over the weekend (sudden tightness/soreness/whatever) so it appears I really am 100% after this, as crazy as it sounds. If it hadn't been a hit/run I wouldn't have even bothered to call the police, just would have sent the driver on their way after asking them to be more careful in the future.
No, you're confusing red light cameras with surveillance cameras.
The red light cameras in use here in R-Town are entirely automated. They record a picture only when there is movement in the intersection when and where there isn't supposed to be. If the light is green, yellow, or red with no motion, then no video.
Plus they're run by a private company. The city never sees any video unless the motorist contests the ticket.
TSL, that intersection has both red light and our blue light safety cameras I think. Either way, I managed to screw up the license plate slightly in the minute between the hit and giving it to the 911 operator, but the cop on the scene was able to call in and have them review the camera footage to see what happened and to get the right license plate.
