Me personally, would have a helmet before a mirror.
Been hit 2x while on bicycles, and crashed due to junk in road/trail 4x, and hit a wash out 1x - honestly helmet wouldn't have helped in any of them, and I'm used to having mirrors. (I did manage to work out a mount for the left one today - will get the right one mounted later this week).
