Bontrager Street shoes with SPD clips is what I use. Going on 6 years and I still like them.

Mine have straps still but I'm really thinking about doing this mod (not my shoes in pic). They remind me of old school cycling shoes post mod. Problem is laces and chainrings/chains don't play nice. Straps behave.
