Getting the midge bars positioned so you're comfortable in the drops is the hardest part. They have only a short length in the drops. The shifting really isn't a problem. Compared to the road position of the shifters, upshifting is easier since the paddle is closer, but you tend to downshift a second gear sometimes because you are closer to the lever. That just takes some getting used to, but functionally everything is the same.
