The only time I tangled with a car was my own fault for being young and ignorant and riding willy-nilly like a kid. I passed a line of cars stopped for a left turner on the right. When the first car turned left, the next car immediately turned right, into me. I watched the gap between the fender and the granite curb close too fast to react, and flipped over the hood doing a shoulder-roll into the middle of the intersection. So...never pass on the right!
