"Shorties" have got to be the most useless item you could ever fit to a bike. The old Italian "shorties" were not shorties but rather only a small portion of the full mudguards that because they were bolted in place were simply left on when the larger section was removed for races (and re-installed for training).
Well they started a fashion trend.
