I can only speak for myself, but I doubt anyone meant climb it every day in succession and you will get better. If climbing is a major physical stress for you, you cannot expect to push your body to the limits or beyond every day and magically get better the next. You can however hit that major climb once a week, with some other conditioning thrown in during the week and then expect each time you make the climb to see it a bit easier.

Strava has been a major help to me on training especially on long climbs. If there are multiple segments to a climb I can see segment by segment how I did today compared to past attempts.

I was riding a lot two years ago and fell of the wagon for almost 18 months. I just started back seriously in January. My first attempt at a local climb was a full 50% slower than my best time from two years ago. However its gotten better every week. Just this last Sunday I did a climb that I was almost sure I could not make it up. I did make it, I was slow, but I made it.

I find climbing is as much mental as physical for a clyde. You have to find a HR you can sustain, and a cadence you can handle the load from and grind, grind, grind.
