I've found myself improving quite a bit over the last few rides. But, it does take time. Feels good though!
Strangely, for me; it's not necessarily feeling better at the top of the climb or being meaningfully faster; it's been how quick I feel good again. I'm recovering much quicker with each ride. Cresting a hill and being ready for another one shortly. So that's a plus, I guess.
I've always defined being in condition as having the ability to repeat.
