Agreed, which is why the first thing I did when I moved to the beta was do a FTP test. However, the spin-down test is supposed to be what removes the day to day setup deviations (a big issue for me as I have to dismantle my trainer setup after every session for space reasons). I'm less worried about absolute power calibration than I am the day to day variations, and I'm not entirely convinced that the current set up is removing those (much like Virtual Power does not).
