The crank is very nicely built, but not exactly lightweight when accounting for the square taper BB. Shifting works well, though I suppose not quite as smooth as my other bike with 5700 105 and Shimano crank. Still, recommended. Crank was just 60 EUR, BB was 17 EUR. Alternatively, Shimano also has the RS500 crank, which looks a bit nicer than the 105 5800 crank, but not as nice as this one.

It's a Tomas frame btw. Quite obscure. I've only found one other thread about the builder on these forums.
That's great! I really wanted to know if one could use a different crankset than the shimano 5800 or RS500. I may consider upgrading to 5800 in the future. I would rather keep my 105 5500 crank if it will work well with the 11 speed chain and 11 speed front derailleur.
