I wondered the same thing when I saw it. While I agree that it is ingenious and a great tool, any road repair that I can think of would involve pushing a pin to remove a broken link.
Breaking a chain for me is usually to replace or clean a chain, or to replace a derailleur. If I don't have a spare RD, I don't think I'll need a means to break a quicklink.
I can see taking this on a tour to pack with a hypercracker and a fiberfix spoke, but not for keeping in a seat bag.
