Fair enough, still, "Roubaix" meaning "gravel" is like "Alaska" meaning hot and dry. There's no gravel between Paris and Roubaix. But I guess that's partly the difference between cycling slang in the States vs somebody from Europe.

What you call "Roubaix" is actually "Strade Bianche", the Italian gravel spring race...
