The New York locks into the cross bar on both sides, making it much more resistant to leverage attacks. It's also more resistant to cutting attacks.

Supposedly, Kryptonite is releasing a Mini NY in January.

The Evo has one side that locks and one side that has a bent foot that seats into the cross bar.

The NY is heavy but does provide - at least in tests - about 2X's the resistance of the Evo. The Evo Mini is convenient. Take your pick.

If you are leaving your bike unattended all day, the NY is going to provide more of a deterrent.

If a real thief wants your bike he is going to get it. He is less likely to go after the bike with a better lock, if he can find something as nice with less security attached.

You should consider multiple locks of a serious nature, and different types, if you are going to leave your bike for a long time, especially on a college campus.

I use both at different times. I really like the Evo, but I do not leave my bike unattended for more than 30 Minutes tops.

My biggest worry is brifters going missing. That's seriously easy money. Snip, Snip and remove Two or Three bolts and there goes your handlebar with brifters in tow.
