I'm fine with authorized parts. One of the major online stores for example sells the +1/4" SS spindles, but not the +1/8. I've seen the aftermarket Ti stuff on ebay, I'm a 170 lb sprinter so those would leave me a little paranoid. I suppose I'll head into town this week and see what the shop markup is.
You can order them straight from speedplay through a speedplay dealer. It's not a lot more to just buy the pedal with that spindle length right out of the chute - at least in the stainless steel versions.
