Crossing shift cables under the down-tube when your bosses are too high

Howdy

I like to route my cables crossed under the down tube, like anyone who likes to do stuff trick.. I've been fortunate thus far in that all of my frames have accommodated this. But I'm building up an old '00 Litespeed Classic, and the bosses are.... at last... too high to do it cleanly.

I'm thinking about doing it anyway, though. If I omit the anti-clatter grommets generally necessary to keep the cables quiet, obviously not needed when the cables will be stretched across/around a pretty decent expanse of down-tube, it seems like it just won't make that much difference. I'll run the front over the back, since the back gets used more and is a little more sensitive. Obviously it'll increase friction in the system... but enough to affect shifting?

I don't care if it means I'll need to replace cables more frequently, nor if the down tube gets a little wear in the brushed finish.

Thanks
