Did a circumnavigation of Mercer Island, a moneyed 'burb of Seattle. Those with an eye towards architecture can ride around the island noting a mock Tudor manse next door to a stark white Bauhaus temple of modernity next to an
echt Northwest Lindal Cedar home with a view deck that looks like the prow of the Titanic, plunked down next to a mock Italianate villa. And on the next street, a bunch of modest ranch houses from the 1950's .
Quick jump across the I-90 bridge to Seattle, it's the portal to the Pacific, y'know (gotta read the fine print on the portal):
Right there where the freeway goes under Seattle, there's a friendly little bike tunnel that does so also
Later in the afternoon, after buying a bunch of cheap crap at Ikea for the hotel I run, I was on the Green River trail out of Kent. Mt Rainier was wearing a jaunty little white cap
Those with an eye toward civil engineering will notice a ton of earthmoving and replanting has been done on this section of the Green River, and the locals are probably all pretty pleased that 80 years worth of industrial waste and illegal dumping has been removed from the water course over the last few years.
