When you adjust your brakes,always leave at least 3 turns out on the lever's barrel adjuster. When you spin the adjuster all the way in,it should give you enough slack to open the brake. When opening the brake,use one hand to grasp the arms by the pads and squeeze them together,and the other to pop out the cable.
