No need to guess. Bike lock tests are on-line at the ART Foundation and at Soldsecure.com. The "Cycling Plus" tested the two locks you mention.

- The New York 3000 is one of the toughest u-locks on the market. A skilled crook with power tools would need eight to ten minutes to open it.

- the Kryptonite Evolution uses only one locking foot, and one unlocked foot. That allows it to be defeated, even with manual tools, in under five minutes. The "mini" Evolution is safer than the standard Evolution, because the small size leaves less room for prying and leverage tools.

I like the light weight and convenience of the "mini" Evolution for daytime use in safe locations. I use the NY 3000 at night and when parking downtown.
