I don't mean to be a snob, and I'm certainly not in any kind of great shape, but I did almost 60 this morning before lunch. I just don't understand why anyone would drive a significant distance for such a short ride.
It's not the length of the ride, 60 miles is a typical weekend ride for me. It's just something different than my normal commuting or day touring. Sometimes it is a nice change of pace to ride an organized ride with people you know as well as people you meet for the first time. Munchies ain't bad either, and the Red Flannel is kind of a tradition, the last organized ride of the season for a lot of folks.
