I don't have a wheel to offer, just a suggestion. My sweetie and I have ridden our tandem, an '82 Peugeot TH8, for 6000 miles since I built it about 4 years ago. For the front wheel I found one built by an LBS for someone but never paid for, never picked up. So they sold it to me fairly cheap though not at a give-away price. It was built to be a touring wheel with a Mavic A319 rim and IIRC a Shimano 105 hub, only 32 spokes. Neiher of us are especially heavy though we have done several short tours where we loaded the bike to 100-105lbs. The tires are Pasela TG 700c x 32mm. That wheel has been just great. The point being, you don't necessarily have to have a built-for-tandems wheel, especially on the front. YMMV.
