The only way I've been able to achieve MHR is on my yearly 3000'+ climb. Part way up, I take it up to LT or as close as I can hold for 45', then accelerate into panting mode, holding that for ~10', then sprint into the parking lot. I won't see a higher HR all year. Top is only 6000', so I can still go hard.
