Actually that is the part everyone gets. And is so obvious and has been said 100 times. Not least of all because they don't make any parts that for touring. But even if one discounts the fact that there aren't any specific parts, it is obvious the upper end parts either aren't better for, or made in a form for touring. The exception over time could be if something nice pops out of cross. Though what is happening so far seems pretty likely to come from someone else. It won't be made for touring either, but it sill might work better than what we are currently using. I guess some brifers might be a high end part that is good for toruing, whether one prefers them or not.

At the very least, if you are riding a touring bike that was built before the Internet, you should get a new bike! There is no market and no one is making touring components because you won't buy anything new.
Why? It isn't going to be anything new or better. Unless you want a different style like 4 inch tires or offroad. Vibrant sports businesses depend on new buyers, most people only are active in sports around 4-5 years. That was the number the sports marketing mags used to suggest. It is like bride magazine, you are interest in what is out there for 18 months, then you move on, though in that case divorce may offer a refresher opportunity.
