Really this whole thing is not Cannondale's fault. One does not use a star-fangled nut with a carbon steerer. You bought the bike from a doofus who didn't know any better or just didn't care. He should be responsible for the damage, not you. You should have returned the whole thing for credit immediately and been done with it. Now you're screwed. But it isn't C'dale's fault.
