Perhaps take some WD40 and some very fine steel wool or fine scotchbrite pad and gently rub off the rust that's on the chrome. Then go over the bike with a fine rubbing compound to freshen up the paint. Then wax.
Thanks for your tips. I think that is pretty much my plan of attack. I had looked into getting it completely re-sprayed & re-chromed, but I feel if I did that then I might as well have any old frame, as nobody would actually know! I don't intend on ever selling it as it's sentimental to me, but I do want to make it as nice as I can. I'm not sure I will ever ride it, I was thinking about puttin it on my wall in my office (hope that doesn't offend anybody)! I will strip it down completely, as in components etc, give it all a big clean and polish, sort the rust on the chrome out (if possible), replace the decals, possibly look at getting some of the scratches/chips sorted, replace the brake levers, pedals, saddle and most importantly the grip tape! I have already purchased all the bits I need, apart from the tyres, brake/gear cables & outers. The one thing I am still looking for is Pinarello toe clip straps, they are very hard to find, usually when they do come up they are in poor condition or they come with pedals and toe clips, but I've already purchased both in super record. Do you have any recommendation on the rubbing compound? Are some better than others?

thanks

Craig
