Your Dad's bike is an early 80s Peugeot Competition with the chromed 531 fork option. On the top tube under the green tape should be black script that reads Competition. Nice Stronglight 104bis crankset as well. The Huret Duopar is after market. The original derailleur would have been a Simplex LJ 1000 to match the brazed on front Simplex/Spidel. Definitely a keeper if it fits.
