When I first started riding, my wife bought me an old Formaggio team jersey with the WC stripes on it. I didn't even notice the stripes, or know what they meant, but on one of my first group rides, a guy made a comment about me being a former World Champ. Of course, that guy was a bit of an ass and also a UCI commissaire.
Good for you. I would do the same if I could.
I have a couple of classic jerseys from the old days. One is an acrylic Campagnolo WC jersey that too big. I can't bring myself to sell it. I also have a nice acrylic long sleeve jersey that has WC stripes on the wrists. I've gotten a few light hearted comments about it.
