From my experience in retail and setting up new items for various retailers...not necessarily in the cycling industry but other industries...

I can honestly say that dimensions and weights of items, cases, pallets shipping weights, item weights, etc entered into retailer portals that end up as text on websites are usually given to the people that enter such things by moronic sales people that have no idea what the **** is going on with the products they're actually representing.

$5 says this was entered into Competitive Cyclists item portal with the shipping weight rather than the actual item weight and the person that set it up along with the person that gave that person the information didn't know the difference.
