Shimanos have always felt narrow to me, but I've heard that's changed over the years ... maybe I should give 'em a try.
Be careful with Shimano's "wide" shoes. I've been happy with the pair I bought three years ago, but when I ordered a new pair last year, it turned out to be noticeably narrower.
