The bike uses early Paramount touring geometry with easy clearance for a 28mm 700c clinchers with rim calipers. I can fit fenders if needed. Braze-ons are used to route the cables for the Rolhoff hub- adjusters mounted on the left side chain stay. The dropouts are Rolhoff, which allow for adjustment of the chain (no chain tensioner). A fairly wide Phil Wood BB spindle is used to obtain the correct chain line with a Velo Orange Grand Cru track crank. I used that for the 165mm length as that favors spinning. I'm still experimenting with the handlebars and where to put the shift for the Rohloff. The chainwheel is a place-keeper for now (I need 42 teeth with a 110 BCD for the Grand Cru crank); if I keep it, it will be a candidate for Drillium.
The gears are such that I can still use high going downhill, with enough on the low end that I can really spin going up steep stuff. The hardest hill in the Twin Cities is the Ramsey Hill and I can climb that in 3rd 'easily' enough. The bike is meant to be a good all-rounder, with relaxed geometry for commuting, touring and longer distance races (the Dairyland Dare comes to mind).
