I agree that 30 lbs is a lot of weight to carry on a commute but only because I can't see why anyone would need 30 lbs of gear to huck around every day. But in terms of carrying capability, 30 lbs is well within the weight limit of all but the flimsiest aluminum rack.
Looking at the bike, Trek mounted the caliper in front of the dropout which makes mounting a rack much easier. I suspect that any rack will fit on the bike without too many fit issues. If you really feel the need to carry around 30 lbs of gear every day, cheezhed321, I'd seriously consider a Tubus. A bit more expensive but they are far more rugged than just about anything available and the steel ones have a 40
kilogram (about 90 lbs) limit. If you look around on Fleabay, you can get some from Germany for dirt cheap.
