My advice is don't get too ambitious unless you have tremendous amounts of energy and free time. Organizing group events is very time consuming.

If there are a few of you who like riding together, just organize your rides by email. If you want a large group experience, try riding with some local clubs and see how they operate before you try to start your own club.
