I'll let you decide which:
2009 model Giant Boulder, bought in early 2010.
- Replaced the original seat for one with padding
- Original knobbly tyres replaced with semi-slicks
- Mechanical disc brakes replaced with hydraulic
- Original trigger shift replaced for grip shift
- Original rear wheel replaced due to wear and tear (spokes were about to pull out)
- Replacement rear wheel replaced with custom rear due to repeated spoke breaks (it is now my spare)
- Front wheel replaced due to damage from a bicycle rack twisting the rim
- Front chain sprocket replaced due to wear
- Upgrade to 9-speed drive chain: required replacement of grip shift with a trigger shift
The move to 9 speed, hydraulic brakes and a custom rear wheel cost me easily 3 times what the bike cost me to purchase in the beginning.
Then there's the additions, the pannier rack, front basket, top box, lighting system.
