I purchased two sets of Boyd's Altamont wheels one for me 24/28 spoke count and one for my wife 20/24 spoke count and they are very high quality products. I like the laser etching instead of decals. The finish of these wheels is very nice and you can look at them and see that these are not cheap rims but rather a quality product. Also holding them they have that nice sturdy quality feel in the hands. The hubs that come with them are very smooth rolling and very good quality.
If these new hubs were listed and available in February when I bought the Altamont's I would have ordered them with the new hubs, but I have to also say that I am not in any way disappointed with the Boyd hubs the Altamont's come with.
The only negative I have on my Boyd rims is that I cannot fit a GP 4000s II 28mm tire on the rear of our Trek Domane's because the wider rims with the GP 4000s II 28mm tires become 30mm and the tire rubs the bottom of the rear brake caliper and the cross bracket the brake caliper mounts to. So I have a GP 4000s II 25mm on the rear that when mounted on the Boyd rims measures 27mm and I am running the GP 4000s II 28mm tires on the front as there is plenty of room on the front to fit these tires even when they measure out at 30mm.
Boyd is making some very nice high quality products and I will support his company and recommend his products to others.
