I locked it up to grab food and come back and investigate. My first thought was that somehow the bead had come unseated and the tube was coming out. Upon closer examination, the bead was still in place, but the sidewall had torn off from the bead.

my michelin city's did the same thing. I had to buy a new tire. cool stuff about REI. even cooler you were able to get a new bike.

I appreciated the tailwind after riding mega-miles last week. What's funny is the TV newscasters were moaning about the bad weather today because it's supposed to be cloudy and colder than it was over the weekend, but it seems great to me after what we went through this winter. Temps were in the upper 40s this morning and are supposed to be close to that this afternoon. Temps in the 40s and 50s are very easy to dress for, and I like the fact that I don't sweat much if I dress right.
I had my biggest week of the year last week 101.3 I did a 47mile charity ride and my legs were a little sore this morning. The winds were all over the place today. 50 degrees when I pushed off today. THey were calling for rain and 45degrees, so I will take 50 and a little breezy. NO tailwind for me a lot of headwind and sidways but faster than some of my other commutes. I was pleased with the time considering the wind swirling around me. There was even more daylight this morning too.
