For some reason the 56cm feels a bit tight. I have been on a mountain bike for the last 15 years and maybe it could be a reason the bigger bike feels comfortable. This is my first Roadie.
The 58cm actual TT is 57.3cm
I am now 5'9" (used to be 5'10 1/2") with a 32.25" inseam. I can ride 54-58 with varying stem lengths. My Masi is a 58 and my Guru steel is a 55. I can ride either very comfortably but the 55 feels a bit more natural.
