Speaking of Mt Diablo, I broke my Pedersen's chain on that final steep pitch to the summit as I tried to get in under one hour. I then ran to the finish almost as fast as I could ride it.
Did you do the Challenge in 2014? Maybe I have you on video... I was a volunteer at the Summit.
I've also seen a Pederson on the Canal Trail a few times... you?
That last pitch is called the "Summit Wall"... definitely want a strong chain for climbing that.
I did see Grant on Diablo once with that unusual bike that had two freewheels - he flipped his rear wheel for the ride down... oh yeah... the Quickbeam.
